Forum Highlights

Special Events - The IRS Nationwide Tax Forum will feature several special events at each location. These events are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to capacity limits. CE credit is not offered for these events. Additional information on these events can be found here.

Exhibits - Visit dozens of exhibitors displaying a wide selection of products and services that may help enhance your business operations. Exhibit hall hours: 11:00am to 6:00pm on Tuesday and 10:00am to 2:30pm on Wednesday.

Case Resolution Program - You can once again bring your toughest unresolved IRS case (one case per tax business) to the Case Resolution Program. IRS representatives with specialized expertise will be available by appointment only to meet one-on-one with tax professionals. If we can't resolve the case onsite or it needs more research, we'll assign it to the appropriate IRS unit for follow-up. A signed original or copy of your Power of Attorney (Form 2848), authorizing disclosure of confidential tax information, is required and must be presented when scheduling an appointment. Only the practitioner(s) listed on the POA will be allowed in the Case Resolution Room. For an appointment, visit the Case Resolution table on Monday before the Forum begins, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, or go directly to the Case Resolution Room during the three-day event. To expedite scheduling, bring your Form 2848 and a completed Nationwide Tax Forum Case Data Sheet with you. The Case Resolution Program can help you resolve one client's toughest tax case. The program is for client cases only. We cannot assist you with any personal tax case or any case in which you have a vested interest. If you have an issue with a case of this nature, please contact the IRS or the Taxpayer Advocate Service directly.

Note from Editor: it is strongly recommended that you bring an original Power of Attorney (Form 2848) which must have a wet signature (meaning pen or ink, not electronic). Also take advantage of the Case Data Sheet link – the first time the Service has provided the form in advance of the Forum – to save time at the Case Resolution Registration Desk.

IRS Zone - Visit the Internal Revenue Service’s booth in the exhibit hall to share your perspective and to learn more about how the IRS is working to strengthen cybersecurity, improve services and build partnerships with the tax professional community.

Continuing Education (CE) Credits - Attendance at IRS Nationwide Tax Forum seminars qualify for continuing education (CE) credits for enrolled agents, certified public accountants, Annual Filing Season Program participants, California Tax Education Council (CTEC) participants and Certified Financial Planners (CFP) (for CFP, see details below). You will need to understand and comply with your licensing agency's CE requirements. Attendance for the full 50 minutes of the presentation is required to receive one CE credit. The seminar schedule allows for a maximum of 18 credits that can be earned at each forum location.

Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Credits - The IRS is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The board has the final authority on the acceptance of individual tax forum courses for continuing education credit for certified financial planners.
