IRS FACE-TO-FACE SATURDAY HELP:

The Internal Revenue Service is committed to providing meaningful service and assistance to meet taxpayers' needs. Many IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the country will open one Saturday each month to offer in-person help without an appointment. Tax return preparation is not a service offered at IRS TACs during regular hours or during these Saturday hours.

The upcoming dates are: February 11, 2023; March 11, 2023; April 8, 2023; and May 13, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time.

Check the IRS website for new information as availability may change without notice.

Come prepared, bring documents:

  • Current government-issued photo identification,

  • Social Security cards for members of their household, including spouse and dependents (if applicable) and

  • Any IRS letters or notices received and related documents.

  • If you plan to request identity verification services, you must bring two forms of identification and a copy of the tax return filed for the year in question if you filed a return.

During the visit, IRS staff may also request the following information:

  • A current mailing address, and

  • Proof of bank account information that you included on your tax return to receive payments or refunds by Direct Deposit.

Foreign language interpreters will be available. The IRS staff will schedule appointments for a later date for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals who need sign language interpreter services.

Tax return preparation options

While tax return preparation is not a service offered at IRS TACs during regular hours or during these Saturday hours, information will be shared on obtaining free tax preparation services locally.

  • There’s no need to attend an event to find free tax preparation service close to you. You can use the VITA Locator Tool or call 800-906-9887 to find free and local help.

  • Any individual or family earning $73,000 or less in 2022 can use tax software through IRS Free File at no cost. There are products in English and Spanish.

  • To find the closest free tax return preparation AARP Tax-Aide site, use the AARP Site Locator Tool or call 888-227-7669.
