TAS TAX TIP: NEW TAXPAYER ROADMAP STOPS FOR 2024

The IRS may send a notice or a letter for any number of reasons; it may be about a specific issue on your federal tax return or account, or may tell you about changes to your account, ask you for more information, or request a payment.

The Taxpayer Advocacy Service (TAS) created the interactive Taxpayer Roadmap so that you can see where you are in the tax system and what to expect next. The map illustrates, at a very high level, the various stages of a taxpayer’s journey – from getting answer to tax law questions all the way through the audit, appeals, collections and litigation stages of your journey through the tax system.

Using the interactive Taxpayer Roadmap can help guide your journey through the U.S. tax administration. Launched initially in 2019, TAS has continued to add additional notices (or stops) to the interactive roadmap. Here’s a listing of new stops on the Taxpayer Roadmap:
