This presentation introduces the Tax Professional to the steps needed to understand how to properly prepare a New York State Tax return by going from the Adjusted Gross Income of a Federal Form 1040 or 1040-SR to the New York Adjusted Gross Income on Form IT 201 - 203. The course will look at the New York Additions and New York Subtractions in order to illustrate the required adjustments between the New York Income Tax Return and the Federal Income Tax Return. There will also be limited discussion of adjustments to Itemized Deductions and New York State Tax Credits.
At the conclusion of the session the Tax Professional will have a better working knowledge of how to properly prepare a New York Income Tax return whether it is a resident, nonresident or part-year resident return.
